Blood Tests & Analysis
We’ve partnered with Optimal Testing to bring you the most comprehensive insight into your body’s healing status.
Why Blood Testing?
Blood testing can give you insight into how your body is healing that just isn’t possible with usual manual assessment. Most simple cases will not require bloods to be taken, but this extra investigation can be useful in more complex cases. Low levels of nutrients, or high levels of inflammation or certain substances in the blood can be part of the reason that injuries or pain struggle to recover.
If you:
Have persistent or long-standing pain
Are slow to recover from injuries or pain
Experience fatigue, brain fog, or feel like you’ve lost the “pep in your step”
Seem to bounce from one injury to the next, with seemingly no link between them
Just feel like “something isn’t right”
Have been to the GP and had bloods that are described as “normal”, but you still feel “off”
Then our specialist blood tests may be for you.
How Does It Work?
Optimal Testing only sell to practitioners, so we’ll need to submit your order, with a testing kit sent to you in the post. Once it arrives, you can use the home finger prick test (pictured above) if you’ve selected a basic blood test, or arrange a blood draw at the Exmouth Health & Travel Clinic if you’re taking one of our Advanced Blood Tests. Then you simply pop your sample in the post, and we receive the results for analysis a few days later. Our partnerships mean that the price you see is the price you pay - postage, blood draws, analysis and recommendations are all included in the prices. We’ll then discuss your results at your next appointment.
Which Blood Tests Do You Offer?
Should your results indicate, we can order any test we like. However our standard offerings have two levels: our Foundation Keystone Nutritional Test, and our Advanced Level Blood Tests.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I need a test if my GP has said my bloods are fine?
There could be many reasons, and if you have the test results we can discuss these with you. They may be out of date or may not have done enough tests. Additionally, NHS services use different thresholds from us in lots of cases. To pick three examples:
NHS B12 testing often uses a lower threshold of 200ng/L, despite NICE guidelines stating that deficiency should be considered at higher levels if the clinical picture fits. We have seen patients with B12 levels of 400ng/L who still improve with supplementation. B12 deficiency is a serious cause of neurological problems that can become permanent if not addressed.
NHS Ferritin (iron stores) testing gives a satisfactory lower level of 13ng/ml. Research suggests there is a 550% increased chance of Fibromyalgia diagnosis if Ferritin is below 50ng/ml. Fatigue, restless leg syndrome and many other complications can be associated with levels below 50ng/ml, with some patients continuing to benefit up to 80ng/ml.
Your C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a measure of inflammation in the body. A normal score is below 1. Typical NHS analysis will only consider it worthy of further investigation at a score 7.5 (or rarely 5). Anything below that is often not followed up. We would take a score of anything above 2 as a sign that there is low level inflammation that could be prolonging your healing or intensifying your pain, and look to find the cause.
Someone with a CRP of 4, Ferritin of 15 and B12 of 250 will likely be fatigued, in a lot of pain and finding that nothing will help. However the blood tests would be unlikely to generate a referral or further investigation under typical NHS care.

“When I found Mike I was crippled. I had pain in my achilles, knee, hip, groin, back, shoulder and neck... I'd seen various physios through work, none of which helped. I was trekking to Machu Picchu in two weeks and needed a miracle. He took on the challenge and I completed the trek as well as others I added on.
I have a very physically demanding job and now see Mike every few months to maintain health.”
