CPD Update: Nutrition, Running Expertise & New Adjustments!
Our practitioners are always looking for ways to improve their practice and stay ahead of the game to get better results for their patients. Continuing Professional Development - or CPD for short - is not only a chance to learn new things but is required by our governing bodies. Just one more great reason to choose registered professionals for your care. This weekend, Chiropractor Mike and Sports Therapist Hannah both attended CPD courses - here we give you the lowdown on the content.
Running Repairs
Hannah joined a number of other Sports Therapists, Physiotherapists, Strength & Conditioning coaches and other practitioners at the highly-rated Running Repairs course. You’ll get no prizes for guessing what the subject matter was!
The course dived into the factors around running injuries and how to treat them as well as minimise risk going forward. As well as specific advice on running form, insoles, and other biomechanical issues, it also covered training programmes and the best way to increase your workrate without increasing injury risk.
Although aimed mostly at runners, advice on running can be applicable to every athlete and indeed non-athletes hoping to start or increase their running. If you want to take advantage of Hannah’s new skills and have a running assessment, book now to make your running less painful and more fun!
The Evolution Of Chiropractic
Meanwhile Mike was in Sheffield at the grandly named “Evolution of Chiropractic” course. The course itself consisted of three half-day seminars on nutrition, communication and technical manipulation skills.
Of particular interest to Mike was the nutrition course run by Simon Billings of the Academy of Chiropractic Nutrition. Simon spoke about some of the most common deficiencies and nutritional issues that can stop patients from getting better.
Simon also started INhealth supplements who will be our recommended supplier. Unlike high street suppliers, INhealth ensure they have clinically meaningful doses of the active ingredients - in the forms that are useful to the human body. Look out for infographics in the clinic with information on how the right supplements can boost your recovery.
You may also find yourself as a guinea pig for some of Mike’s new and improved adjusting skills - enjoy!
